How to Jailbreak iOS 8-8.1.1 using TaiG

Another jailbreak has arrived to the scene. With iOS 8 being constantly updated, developers have to keep up with the software versions. These developers compete to release their jailbreak software first. Well, TaiG has done it, by releasing an untethered jailbreak for devices runnning iOS 8-8.1.1. Now you are free to update your device to the latest software.

TaiG, the new chinese developers, has just updated their jailbreak software called TaiG v1.1.0. The original software had some issues such as the language being in mandarin and sandbox issues, but these have all been fixed with the latest software. The software is however, supported only on Windows. Just follow this step-by-step guide to successfully jailbreak your iOS 8-8.1.1 device with TaiG.

  • Before jailbreaking, you must turn off your Touch ID or lock screen passcode. This can be found in Settings –> General –> Touch ID & Passcode –> turn off Simple Passcode.
  • Then you must turn off the Find My iPhone feature. This can be done by navigating into Settings –> iCloud –> Find my iPhone
  • Your device will also need some free space to be jailbroken
  • Backup files and important data and settings via the cloud and/or iTunes.

The TaiG jailbreak is compatible with the following devices:

  • iPhone 6
  • iPhone 6 Plus
  • iPhone 5s
  • iPhone 5c
  • iPhone 5
  • iPhone 4s
  • iPad (2, 3, 4, Air, Air 2, mini 1, mini 2, mini 3)
  • iPod touch 5

The following firmwares are the ones supported by TaiG:

  • 8.0
  • 8.0.1
  • 8.0.2
  • 8.1
  • 8.1.1
  • 8.2 beta

How to Jailbreak iOS 8-8.1.1 with TaiG v.1.1.0

Step 1: Extract the files from the downloaded file to a place that can be easily located.

Step 2: Connect the iOS device to the computer with the software. Run TaiG as an administrator by Right-Clicking on the icon. Make sure to tap “Trust this Computer” if your device has prompted you.

Step 3: An installer window will then open. Uncheck the option below the Cydia checkbox in order to prevent from installing the TaiG appstore.

Step 4: Click the green button at the center of the window to being the jailbreaking process.

Step 5: Let your iOS device sit still and wait for the jailbreaking process to complete. Do not disconnect your iPad, iPhone or iPod while the process is still going on. Once the device has finished, it should reboot automatically and the Cydia icon should be on the home screen.
